As the academic year draws to an end things start to slow down I release how much I'm going to miss my role as Environment and Ethics Officer and organising events!
However, it’s not over just yet and one occasion just around the corner is World Fairtrade Day on Saturday 9th May. A great excuse to kick start or give a boost to your fairtrade habit. Why not join many fairtrade supports around the world including France, Norway, Poland and here in the UK by have a fairtrade breakfast.

If you want to get more involved with organising Environmental and Ethics events for next year and think you can make the Union even greener then why not stand for one of two positions open on the Environment and Ethics Committee: Environment Co-ordinator and Ethics Co-ordinator. Come along to Union Council on 18th May to stand for the positions or email me for more info at eande@susu.org

Highlights include a Smoothie making bike on the Monday, Farmers Market on Thursday and an interesting competition running all week long!

Dear Scrapbook
I can’t believe we are already in November. Got a lot to catch up on as this is my first Scrapbook entry. I even updated the Environment and Ethics Website the other day…who says I’m useless with modern technology!
Environment and Ethics Day on Thursday 4th October was a hectic success. Students loved the free fair-trade chocolate, free energy saving light bulbs and recycling games.
I chaired my first Environment and Ethics Committee Meeting, and we now have a full team with the Ethics Co-ordinator role filled at the first Union council! We have lots of ideas planned for the year ahead so keep your eyes peeled.
Last week I got up at 7am to prepare for my first Farmers Market. It was a good day (it didn’t even rain) except I was very tried come 3pm! The next farmers market is on Thursday 4th December.
Good News: The University gained Fair-trade status for the 3rd year running. Fair-trade produce can be found in the outlets on campus.
We (the co-ordinators and me) are travelling up to Birmingham for the People and Planet Conference, looking forward to all the talks and workshops. Will let you know how it goes!
Have a good week
