Well what a day. Firstly I went up to Wide Lane and watched a few games. Lots of men in shorts, very nice.Unfortunately however, I spent the rest of the day in Southampton General. Well what a day. Firstly I went up to Wide Lane and watched a few games. Lots of men in shorts, very nice.

Unfortunately however, I spent the rest of the day in Southampton General. My campaign manager has fallen very ill, so I've been hospitaling it up all evening. However I'm hoping my good deeds today will pay off tomorrow, as they say what comes around goes around.

Anyway right now I really need to go to sleep, like everyone else I'm absolutely shattered!

Wow these past couple of days have been manic... after a bit of a aaggh what do I do start I'm finally getting into the rhythm of it! Its been really great talking to so many people and finding out what they think of the union and the elections!

Today saw the first appearance of my monkey! He's very naughty and likes bananas alot so feel free to feed him. I don't have rules like the zoo does. However he knows to stop (sometimes) when you should MONKEY NO!!!!!

Well the day hasn't ended yet so I had better go eat my pancakes and get ready to go!

Thank goodness the British weather held out for today! Varsity day was sooo sunny, lovely! I was up in the club house for most of the day, broadcasting Surge to the whole of wide lane. Thank goodness the British weather held out for today! Varsity day was sooo sunny, lovely! I was up in the club house for most of the day, broadcasting Surge to the whole of wide lane. We were playing music and keeping everyone up to date on the latest slaughter of Portsmouth! Congratulations to everyone who played today, it was an amazing result. I particularly enjoyed the American football, and at one point was in a room with ALOT of very padded up men. The testosterone was high I can tell you! Anyway a great day in all. I am now going to sleep ready for this coming week eek!

I can't believe this time of year has come around so quickly! I'm sure everyone is running around finishing all their preperations for campaign week. Also I can't believe it's Varsity on Sunday! I will be there with Surge, playing lots of music to keep up everyones spirits and also keeping everyone up to date with the scores. We're based in the club house somewhere... so come say hi and request a song! Good luck to all the sports teams taking part, I'm sure Southampton is going to annihilate Portsmouth :-)

80s Party - What a success!!

Last night saw the spectacular event that was the 80s themed battle of the bands. And I must say what a great success it was! We raised around £300 from ticket sales alone. All this money is going to Fairbridge, a local charity that helps disadvantaged youths in the inner city. I had such fun, all the bands were amazing... (more)

Last night saw the spectacular event that was the 80s themed battle of the bands. And I must say what a great success it was! We raised around £300 from ticket sales alone. All this money is going to Fairbridge, a local charity that helps disadvantaged youths in the inner city. I had such fun, all the bands were amazing and they sounded really good. I just want to say congratulations to 78 Blues for winning and to Megan Ledger, my lovely housemate, for all her hardwork in the organisation! Bring on 90s night!

I literally cannot wait for this semester to start. There are so many plans for Surge in the pipeline and Meg (my housemate) and I have been working hard on organising the first of our charity battle of the band events which is now less than 3 weeks away!

The only downer is I'm saying goodbye to the lovely age of 21 next week and hello to 22... I think 21+1 sounds much better!

Listening, playing, whatever its great!

I think my musical highlight of last year was seeing the Manic Street Preachers at Reading.

I also love playing clarinet, my two saxophones – soprano and alto and piano (badly!).

Stuff that's good

Crumpets, red wine, SUSU bar staff, Surge Radio, good surf, friends, Monkeys, pink wafers

Stuff that's bad

Rain, 9am lectures, being poor, rude people, typos

More about me

I'm a post grad student studying MA Medieval and Rennaissance Culture (don't ask... basically history and english). This is my fourth year at Southampton, as I spent the first three completing my undergrad in Archaeology.

When I'm not attempting to study I spend most of my time running Surge, the student radio station. I love Surge, having been involved in it for 3 years now, first as a DJ, then Head of Music and now Manager. Head of Music is the best job in the world, you never have to buy music again and get sent so many free gig tickets. I got to see Editors for free. That was definitely a high point.

I’ve also been involved in lots of other things such as SUSURF. I am from Cornwall so it was a bit mandatory…. The trips to Newquay were immense. Right now I’ve been persuaded to try out canoe polo and after watching some YouTube clips I am a bit scared, but actually quite looking forward to crashing around a swimming pool in a canoe!

Music is something very dear to me, and I love the local music scene. Right now I am co-organising a battle of the bands event to take place on 18th Feb and 18th March. It’s going to be such a great night and its raising money for Fairbridge, a local charity that helps disadvantaged youths.
