Since the beginning of my second year I have really got involved in everything that goes on at the Students' Union. For me, VP Welfare and Societies has always been the position I have wanted to run for. It's a challenging job, but a particularly worthwhile one, and something I feel I am very well prepared to take on. I believe that the aims of my manifesto are realistic and achievable within the year that I have to do this job.
Check out my manifesto and you will see that my aims are simple solutions to common problems, and that I have the experience and drive to achieve them. Remember to vote Asha for VP Welfare and Societies at vote.susu.org and that voting closes on Wednesday 4th March 2009 at 12pm.
It seems three isn't the magic number after all, forty five is definitely a winner for me. I went to the pub quiz at The Crown this evening and though my team did not win, we got a respectable score of forty five. There was then a draw of the quiz results and whoevers score was pulled out would win part of the money paid in to take part. And low and behold our score of the forty five got pulled out! Now forty five isn't just a good number because I live at this number but it is also featured in Cornershop's 'Brimful of Asha' (see my video).
Voting begins tomorrow, so don't forget to vote at vote.susu.org.
The video is now up, I hope you all enjoy it!
I can't believe the time has gone so fast! This weekend sees me trying to catch up with some work and having a bit more of a relaxing day than the hectic week days.I actually got a lie in. I shall be out later this evening no doubt.
I went to the CU meeting last night to talk and had a good time chatting to people, as well as joining them to sing, the band were awesome! Then it was off to Kinki. Kinki was great last night, I really enjoyed handing out my glow bands and my campaign team were out in force. All of them have told me what a good time they have had and I am so grateful for their support. I also had a mini version of my bunting just above the SUSU shop, on the stairs when people go down to the Cube.
Voting is not so far away. It begins this Monday from 9am, so please remember to vote at vote.susu.org.
So, after the horrible incident of the burning of the old bunting (see my previous Scrapbook entry) the bunting is back with a vengeance! Thanks to a very lovely person who remade and put it up for me. :)
Todays campaigning (or should I say 'yesterdays' considering the time) has been a lot of fun. We all had a good time at Winchester, there were more candidates than campaigns teams but we made the best of it nonetheless. I think 'would you rather be a polar bear or a clown fish?' was a popular question. For some reason the clown fish appeals to me, maybe it's the influence of 'Finding Nemo'.
I had two people come up and ask me about the housing website I want to set up. This is basically a website I want to set up, liaising with VP Media and Communications, for people to find houses and housemates. There would also be housing information and tips on this site. It was really nice to chat to them and to know they have read my manifesto.
I hit The Stags for karaoke tonight and sang Hanson's "Mm Bop" with a little help from a few members of my campaign team. I have been informed that it was filmed, so the video may be up here very soon.
So I went onto campus this morning to find that my bunting which was across the Union Shop had gone. When I looked closer at the ends of the bits that were left it had been burnt at either end. I am disappointed but will come back with something bigger and better.
