Videos, SUSU.tv and Surge.
Thu 14th February 2008 @ 12:10:pm

The last couple of days I haven't stopped, and am living off coffee and SUSU cafe meals. Oh well, I may be able to make it to the gym soon.  And there's been great excitement as my video has gone up.  Check it out!!

So what's been happening? Well, I had a couple of media meetings yesterday to do with really cool items coming up. Firstly, we're recruiting more people into SUSU.tv to produce our second news item called Focus. To help make the stories interesting, and informative at the same time, I ran a little training session on script writing, camera use and filming technique, and I can't wait to see the finished result.

With it being refreshers week, one of the items will look at Tae Kwon Do as a featured society, to promote the society and provide a bit of entertainment too. And of course, what with it being housing week, there will be an item on that too.

The second item was Surge related. I was contacted the other day by two people who are trying to beat a world record in the cube...for the most number of Smurfs in one building...So, I met up with them to discuss the ways in which Surge could be used to promote the event with adverts and even an on air interview. However, I also suggested that SUSU.tv could help, by running a news story on the record attempt, thereby helping to advertise the other charity events they've got coming up. It's REALLY exciting :-).

One of the things that really needs to be improved next year is the communication between media departments. As a member of both Surge and SUSU.tv, it allowed me to represent both departments. However, this is very unlikely to be the case next year. This is where the revitalised forums come in. By having a central hub for all the media departments, any one will be able to post with an idea and it would easily be covered by all the relevant departments. Imagine how easy that would be. Media working together. And that is only the beginning... Have you got any cool events coming up. Well get in contact. acg104@soton.ac.uk
